Regardless of what kind of channel you want to have, creating a YouTube video is easy! There are a few very easy ways to do it, and it all depends on how you want to do things.
First of all, you need a Google account. If you have a Gmail account, you already have one!
Congratulations! You can go to YouTube and upload your first video immediately. If not, you can create a Google account directly through YouTube itself. Just click “Log in” in the upper right hand corner of the YouTube homepage.
If you’ve got a webcam:
Every laptop comes equipped with a webcam and microphone these days, and many of them are pretty good. That, and that alone, is all you need to make a YouTube video. Fire up your webcam software and record a video file! Talk about your cat, your college, your life, or just shout about how tired you are of this election year already!
Go to YouTube, log in, and click the Upload button in the upper right hand corner. This will take you to the upload screen. Then you can select the video file you want to upload or just click and drag the file. Simple stuff!
If you want to use your phone:
All phones have the capability to record decent video. If you’re blessed with the iPhone 6S, you’re lucky enough to have a fantastic 4K camera built right into your phone! (To keep it simple, 4K is twice the resolution of standard 1080p! Super sharp and beautiful!)
You can record the video directly to your phone, and then use the YouTube app (you DO have the YouTube app, right?) to upload it directly to the site!
Open the app and click the little icon that looks like a person. There will be a bright red button on the right hand side of the screen. If you’re on an iPhone it might look like a camera (and that means you can shoot the video directly inside the app). If you’re on a Droid phone it might look like an upload icon (in which case you need to shoot your video ahead of time and then upload it). Either way, you don’t actually need a computer to create and post videos!
(Keep in mind, if you’re creating 4K video, these files are going to be big, so you’re going to want to be using a wireless connection unless your phone plan has unlimited data.)
Hope that helps you get started! Looking forward to seeing your first video!
