Good morning, Muserkers!
Today, I’m going to explain the process for licensing music for YouTube.
So you’re a smart content creator and you know that you can’t just grab a track out of your iTunes for your video. You need to properly license a royalty free song from Muserk!
The basics are pretty easy – search and find the perfect track, throw it in your cart – just like every other e-commerce site.
But what’s this licensing window?
We have a variety of different licenses for different usage types. If your video is appearing solely on YouTube, you should choose the YouTube Monetization License, which is our most affordable license.
However, if your video is going to appear anywhere else on the web, you should choose the Web & Digital Media License. This license is good for one production on YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, your own site, or anywhere else on the web.
If you love a track SO MUCH that you want to use it in multiple videos, you should pick up the Web Series license, which allows you to use the track in multiple productions. Some examples include intro and outro music and theme music.
Lastly, if you’re planning on entering your production into a film festival, and you also want to share it online, you should purchase the Film Festival License.
(Traditional broadcast users – TV, Radio, or Film – should reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org for custom quotes.)
So then, you sync the track with your video, and upload your video to YouTube. But it looks like there’s a claim on your video! But the music is properly licensed! What happened?
Despite the best efforts of the Muserk R&D teams, we haven’t mastered the fine art of mind-reading. So even though you purchased the correct license, we still don’t know where you posted the video. But we have anticipated our telepathy-deficiency, and planned ahead!
Look closely at your receipt e-mail from Muserk. You get a personal link that leads to a section of our site where you can submit your YouTube URL. This sends the link directly to our Content ID management team. These hard-working folks will release all claims on your video as soon as possible (usually within 1 business day).
“But I lost my e-mail receipt!”
No need to worry! You can always e-mail your link to email@example.com and we can forward it along to the team.
